Family Support Group

Are you concerned about the drug or alcohol use of someone close to you?

Family Drug Support is running a new group at DAMEC Liverpool to help families, friends or anyone else supporting someone with drug or alcohol problems:

• Learn coping skills
• Understand more about drug and alcohol dependence
• Learn how best to support someone who is having problems with drugs or alcohol
• Get support for yourself and other family members

WHEN: The 3rd Tuesday of every month - first group meets on Tuesday 17th January 2017

TIME: 6PM – 8PM

VENUE: Level 4, 13 – 15 Moore St, Liverpool

 

Anyone from any family can develop problems with drugs or alcohol, and people close to them are often seriously impacted. This group is a free, confidential and safe place for anyone who may be supporting someone with a drug or alcohol issue.

FDS

 

 

Family Drug Support (FDS) is a government funded, not for profit organisation which has been providing specialist support and care for over 18 years to families coping with isolation, helplessness, shame and stigma. Family Drug Support runs a telephone support line 1300 368 186 (24 hours/day, 7 days/week) and family support groups around Australia.

 

 

Anger Management

Anger is a natural response. The aim for attending this program is not to make anger go away but to learn to deal with anger in healthier ways. Sessions will cover:

  • What is anger
  • How to recognise and control anger
  • Strategies to manage anger
  • Managing anger in relationships
  • Identifying and challenging unhelpful thoughts that trigger anger

WHEN: Tuesday September 5 - Tuesday October 3 (5 weeks)

TIME: 10.00am - 12.00pm

VENUE: Level 4, 13 – 15 Moore St, Liverpool

 

 

Keeping Children Safe

Do you want to know how to protect your children? This course increases parents’ understanding of how to meet children’s needs, how to build a child’s self-esteem and how to prevent child neglect and abuse.

WHEN: Tuesday October 24 - Tuesday November 14 (4 weeks)

TIME: 10.00am - 12.00pm

VENUE: Level 4, 13 – 15 Moore St, Liverpool

This is a joint project of DAMEC and Uniting.
