Data Collection

You can browse our web-site without revealing any personally identifiable information. We do however collect a limited amount of information about all visitors to our website. This information helps us to understand how people are interacting with our website and to improve the design and functionality of our site so that we can offer a better online experience to visitors.

When you visit any of our online resources, we may collect the following information about your visit for statistical purposes:

  • IP address

  • The date and time of your visit to the site

Methods

DAMEC uses two third party platforms (sites hosted and managed by organisations other than ourselves) to collect visitor information:

a.    StatCounter.com
StatCounter is a web analytics service. To track website activity information, a StatCounter analytics cookie (called "is_unique") may be placed in your browser. This cookie is used only to determine whether you are a first-time or returning visitor and to estimate unique visits to the site. No personal information is stored in the cookie.
You may set your browser to refuse/accept StatCounter analytics cookies by clicking the link here: http://statcounter.com/about/set-refusal-cookie/
Further information about StatCounter’s privacy policy is available at: http://statcounter.com/about/legal/

b.    Google Analytics
Information and data collected through Google Analytics is stored by Google in an encoded format on servers distributed across Google’s data centres around the world.
If you don’t want your visit data collected by Google Analytics you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on by clicking on the link here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

The Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on does not prevent information from being sent to the website itself or in other ways to web analytics services.
Further information on Google Analytics’ security and privacy principles is available from: http://www.google.com/analytics/learn/privacy.html

Cookies

A Cookie is a small text based file put on your computer hard disk drive when you first visit that helps identify you to a website. Cookies are used to maintain information as you navigate different pages on a Web site or return to the Web site at a later time. We (and our cookies) do not track your browsing history outside of our website, with the exception of recording the site that referred you to our website.

Newsletters and email notifications

If you wish to receive newsletters or e-mail notifications, you will be asked to provide personal information, such as your name and e-mail address. The information you provide will be stored for the sole purpose of sending information to you. You may opt in or out of these services at any time.

Data security

There are inherent risks in transmitting information across the internet and we do not have the ability to control the security of information collected and stored on third party platforms. In relation to our own servers, we take all reasonable steps to manage data stored on our servers to ensure data security.

Use and disclosure

We do not give personal information collected online to other agencies, organisations or anyone else without your consent, other than for a purpose made known to you, a purpose you would reasonably expect, a purpose required, authorised or permitted by or under any law, or a purpose otherwise authorised by you.
